So the title of this blog post is "Can You Say OUCH?"
Well, I sure can and did, yesterday, today, and probably for the next few days as well. When a refrigerator door FULL of stuff falls on your foot, one tends to yell out the word OUCH! Now some might yell out other choice words as well but I didn't.
Now, you might be asking, "How on Earth did a refrigerator door fall on your foot?" Let me tell you how!
This past weekend, we traveled out of town to my hubby's parent's house to celebrate not only Mother's Day but also my mother-in-law's birthday. We went to their house on Friday right after my daughter got out of school.
They have a side by side refrigerator and Saturday the door on the refrigerator side was squeaking so my mother-in-law had my father-in-law oil it. That took care of the squeak. Seemed like all was fine. Now I'm not sure if the same door had already been opening too far thus bumping the cabinet next to it, or if this was something that had just started this weekend, but it was doing this on Saturday, so hubby and his dad took a look at it.
I'm not sure if they did anything to it or not? On Sunday the door was still opening too far and one of the times I went to close it back I heard a loud cracking noise. Next thing I know the whole refrigerator door came sliding down and landed on my foot. Boy howdy did that HURT!
Hubby was there in just a few seconds to grab the door but the damage had been done. I hobbled to the couch and my sister-in-law got me an ice pack. I sat with ice on it for a bit and then decided I should probably go get x-rays to make sure nothing was broken. I could wiggle my toes so I didn't think anything broke but my sister-in-law said I could have a hairline fracture so I wanted to get my foot checked out to be sure. Better safe than sorry! Didn't want to be thinking all was fine and then bam, bump my foot and a hairline fracture turn into a break. That would NOT have been good!
So my mother-in-law took me to the urgent care center to have x-rays. Hooray! Nothing was broken and no hairline fractures. I was just going to have a sore foot that would be a new color for awhile. I'm just glad the refrigerator door fell on MY foot and not on one of my kids. Although, obviously I wish it had missed me too!
Sorry about your foot! Good thing nothing was broken.
