Snow Boots

Oh my goodness! There must be a lot of little girls running around the town that my hubby's parents live in that have the same size foot as our daughter. Saturday afternoon my mother-in-law, one of my sister-in-laws, my daughter, and myself went out shopping. One of the main things I was looking for we never found, a pair of snow boots for my daughter.

We started out at Shoe Carnival. They had some pretty cute ones but only one pair were in our price range and neither my daughter nor myself liked them. After that we headed over to Wal-mart. They had two pair but neither pair really jumped out at us so we decided to keep looking. Our next stop was Payless Shoes. After the girl working there measured my daughter's foot she informed us that they had no snow boots in my daughter's size so once again we left without any boots. The next store we tried was Target. Here they had some cute boots that were a bit more pricey than I wanted to spend but I would have probably gone ahead and purchased a pair had they had my daughter's size. So once again we left still in search of a pair of snow boots for my little girl. We were done shopping for the time being and I told my daughter that daddy and I would take her to look for a pair of snow boots later in the week.

Well tonight we went to Wal-mart by our house to get groceries for us and our doggie. Low and behold we saw an end cap with snow boots on it! Our daughter tried on a couple of different sizes and of course they were all too small. We glanced down the aisle and yay! There were a whole lot more of this particular style. We found the next size up and hip, hip, hooray! They fit great and only cost $7.00!

It's unreal how the sizes for snow boots run compared to shoe sizes. When we had gone to Payless Shoes and the girl had measured my daughter's foot, she told us that she needed a size 2 in snow boots. I thought that sounded like it was too big of a size considering my daughter only wears a size 13 shoe but believe it or not, the snow boots we bought her tonight were actually a size 3! Isn't that crazy?

Apparently my daughter LOVES her new snow boots too. She wanted to put them on as soon as we got to the truck in the Wal-mart parking lot. We told her to wait until we got home. We hadn't been home long and she had them on her feet. She said she wanted to sleep in them! I told her no. She didn't even want to take them off to get in her jammies so I told her she could wear them with her jammies. She is now walking around in a night gown and snow boots. Boy, does she look a bit silly but hey, she's happy so I suppose it's all good, right? Who's gonna see her anyway besides mommy, daddy, and little brother? Hmmm....maybe I should take a photo?

And a Happy New Year!

Ok, ok, so we can't sing that well but hey, you didn't have to listen to us. You just had to read it and get the song stuck in your head!

Merry Christmas to all my blog readers from my family to yours! Wishing all of you and your families a very Merry Christmas! Stay safe and warm!

White Christmas

It is definitely a white Christmas at our house this year. Yesterday our weather started out with some misting/light rain that turned into freezing rain/sleet and then produced all that white stuff you see in the photos. I think it snowed most of the evening and most of the overnight hours. I think this is the most snow we've had in quite some time. It's way too much! It definitely messed up travel plans for many I'm sure, us included. The interstate we normally take to go visit my hubby's family is currently closed and we have no clue when it will reopen. My kids have yet to go out and play in it. I'm really surprised my daughter hasn't been continually asking to go out. She loves to play out in the snow. Not me! I get cold too easy! Brrrrr! According to the online weather report I read we're expected to get 1-2 more inches of snow today and another 1 inch tonight. Like we need anymore! I'm sure that many out there have more snow than we do. I say we ship it all to everyone who doesn't have any! It's only fair we all get some! I'm more than willing to share! Now who wants some snow?

Questions Kids Ask

Today we went to the grocery store and they had cheese hot dogs on sale for a very good price so we picked up quite a few packages. When driving not long after leaving the grocery store our 6 year old daughter asked us a question. At this age kids always seem to want to know how things work, what things are made of, why something does this, and other questions along those lines. You just never know what they will ask next do you? Today the question our daughter asked us was, "What animal has hot dogs in them?" Are you smiling now? We were smiling and I think giggling a bit too when she asked us that.

What Are Parents Thinking?

Seriously, what are some parents thinking now a days? I was driving home tonight and in the middle of one of the main streets were three girls playing around and pushing each other. They were probably pre-teen to early teen. So maybe about 12-14 years old. It's so hard to tell ages anymore. So many kids look older than they truly are. Either way, these girls should not have been out walking around by themselves and definitely should NOT have been playing in the middle of the road. It was about 9:40pm at night for goodness sakes! I can't believe that parents just let their kids roam around like that. With the way the world is these days and all the crazy people and crazy things those crazy people do, I don't plan to let me kids far from my sight. I obviously don't plan to completely shelter them and keep them in a bubble or anything like that but by golly I plan to do my very best to always know who they are with, what they are doing, and where they are!

An Etsy Story

My hubby sent me the link to an Etsy story he found online so I wanted to share it with you. I thought it was a pretty good read and would love to some day have the same type of success with my Etsy shop! If you'd like to read it, you can go here. Enjoy!

Too Many Goodies

Seriously folks, between all the yummy sweets I received from the moms of the children I do childcare for at church to all the goodies and treats hubby and I have either purchased from the store or baked at home, I am going to put on weight. More of me to love I guess huh? I don't usually make New Year's resolutions but I just might have to make one to exercise more next year to get my figure back! Heck, all these tasty things to eat and it isn't even Christmas yet. I still have tons of family gatherings to attend where I know there will be so many yummy treats waiting for me to eat them. I do think I'm in trouble here! How are you all holding up?

Awww...He Braved The Cold

My hubby is such a sweetie! This morning I had about 5-10 minutes before it was going to be time for me to leave. I said to my hubby, "Guess I better go start my truck and scrape off my windows." He was feeding our son his oatmeal and fruit. He asked if I wanted to finish feeding our little boy and he would take care of my truck. Ummmm....of course I said yes. I dislike the cold so much! What a great hubby I have to offer to do that huh? He braved the cold for me! What a man! I think I'll keep him!

No Right Turn On Red

So we were coming home tonight and stopped at a red light. In front of us was a police car. Next thing hubby said was, "No right turn on red." Yep, sure enough that police car turned right at the red light with that "no right turn on red" sign clearly posted on the pole. I'm not even sure he used a turn signal either. Why is it okay for them to do that? Just doesn't seem quite right but what can you really do? Nothing I suppose but complain about it in a blog huh?

Finding The Doctor

So today I went for a follow-up visit to a medical condition I've been following for years now. I got the all okay which was wonderful news. I hadn't been having any problems so this was the news I had expected to receive. Even though the news was great, getting to see the doctor was quite a pain. I went and had my test done first then headed to the doctor's office which we thought was in the building attached to the hospital where I had my test done. Well, the office was there last year but apparently they moved to a new office off hospital grounds and we did not know this. We stopped in at the help desk at the hospital and they were able to track down the new address and phone number for us. What a pain! I can't believe they didn't let their patients know they had moved! I even called the office this morning to be sure that they had received my referral and they didn't mention the move. Needless to say we were pretty late for my appointment. Luckily this particular doctor is always running behind schedule so us being so late didn't even matter but still.....you would think they would have told us their new location!

Busy Post Office

I went to the post office not too long ago and boy did I get there at just the right time. When I pulled into my parking space there was one car in the parking lot. I got my son out of his car seat, grabbed the bag my packages were in, and went inside. A lady was coming out so I didn't have to wait to be helped. By the time I mailed all my packages a line had formed behind me. When I got back to my truck I counted eight, yes eight vehicles in the parking lot. Man, did I time that right or what?
